Medical Writing

Medical affairs and medical education

We organise scientific content around clinical questions so that claims in scientific slides, medical Q&A, topic materials and consensus documents can be traced to the original evidence.

Relevant departments
Departments responsible for Medical Affairs, medical information and medical education.

We organise, write and review medical content. The material's classification is determined at project initiation and recorded in the document header. Non-advertising scientific materials retain evidence sources and qualifications.

This service addresses specific medical information questions; topic briefs and content maintenance focus on ongoing updates to established educational themes. Where safety information is involved, our document writing support does not replace the client's pharmacovigilance responsibilities.

Typical workflow

The following are general steps for different document types. The requirement confirmation form specifies the scope, review responsibilities and delivery milestones.

Scientific slides and research training

Define audience and topic → Organise evidence and outline → Write slide content and speaker notes → Build the evidence traceability table → Medical and compliance review → Revise and confirm the version.

Clinical position papers, disease education and topic briefs

Define the clinical question and intended use → Search and appraise evidence → Develop the chapter structure → Write the text and citations → Check conclusions and their applicability → Revise in response to comments; ongoing maintenance also records new evidence and version changes.

Medical information Q&A

Define the question and intended use of the response → Confirm search scope and cut-off date → Organise evidence and limitations → Draft the standard response → Medical review and source verification → Confirm the version and scope of future updates.

Expert consensus

Client confirms experts and organisational arrangements → Define the consultation plan and evidence grading method → Prepare evidence summaries and consultation materials → Conduct the agreed consultation rounds → Retain items with and without consensus → Compile comment resolution records and consensus report.

Digital medical content

Confirm audience, material classification and medium → Organise core messages and interactive storyboards → Write scientific content and page drafts → Check sources and qualifications → Review and confirm the version; technical development and launch are scoped separately.

We are not responsible for expert selection or meeting organisation. Support for consultation materials and consensus documents does not include these organisational responsibilities.

Package engagement

Medical education projects

The work package includes evidence review and topic planning; scientific slides, speaker notes and Q&A; and literature updates and content maintenance. Input materials, interim deliverables and acceptance criteria are agreed around the client's actual work package.

Medical information Q&A can be requested separately; the requirement confirmation form specifies the questions and number of documents. Expert selection and meeting organisation for expert consensus are outside our scope.

Applicable standards and content boundaries

We first establish the intended use, then select standards for evidence organisation and reporting. Reporting checklists cannot replace evidence quality appraisal.

Standard names, versions and locations

Scientific materials should describe study design, applicable populations, outcomes and limitations, distinguishing study observations, interpretations and expert judgements. Evidence grading methods should be specified in the consensus plan in advance; majority opinion must not be presented directly as a definitive conclusion on efficacy.

Applicable standards and content boundaries
Standard and locationApplication
ACcurate COnsensus Reporting Document (ACCORD, 2024), formal checklist in table 4 of the original paper, items M9, M11, M12 and R5.Reporting consensus methods, the purpose of each step, the definition of consensus, and modification or removal of items.
Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020, items 5, 6, 7, 15 and 22.Where materials use a systematic review, describe eligibility criteria, search information and certainty of evidence. Do not label a general topic search as a systematic review.
International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (January 2026), II.A.2–3.Determining authorship and disclosure of non-author contributions when materials enter scholarly publication.
Good Publication Practice 2022 (GPP 2022), supplementary materials, sections E, G and H.Transparent records when company-sponsored research enters publication planning, author communication and the publication process.

Original ACCORD paperandItem explanations;PRISMA 2020 checklist;ICMJE authors and contributors;GPP 2022 original paper and translations.

We are not listed as authors; for publication support, our involvement and funding sources are disclosed truthfully in the acknowledgements. Disease education and scientific news articles are non-advertising materials for healthcare professionals. The content boundaries of medical information Q&A are confirmed for each project; this does not extend the service to contact centre operations, real-time medical consultations or pharmacovigilance operations.

The data are simulated. 24 experts rate 6 items over 2 rounds on a scale of 1–9. In this illustration, consensus requires at least 75% of experts to give a score of 7 or above. In the second round, 3 items reach consensus and 3 do not; these are not actual expert opinions. The illustrated threshold only demonstrates a presentation format and is not a default threshold for projects.

Frequently asked questions

Medical information Q&A versus topic-based Q&A

Medical information Q&A addresses a defined medical information need; topic briefs and medical Q&A can be organised around established educational themes. Both retain sources and version history. Classification is specified in the requirement confirmation form to avoid counting the same work twice.

Organisational responsibilities for expert consensus

We are not responsible for expert selection or meeting organisation. Services cover expert consultation, evidence summaries, consultation materials, comment resolution records and the consensus report. The plan includes 2 rounds of expert consultation and retains items without consensus.

Specified templates and content reuse

We can use the client's template or, where none is specified, our standard layout. The general layout template counts as 0 slides in total and can be reused after delivery. Intended use, sources and applicability must still be checked when content is reused.

Delivery boundaries for digital medical content

Delivery covers scientific content and page drafts, retaining sources and version history. Technical development and launch are scoped separately; commissioning content does not imply that system development or platform operations are included.

On-site arrangements for research training

The current service specifies training slides and organisational materials, including a topic list, slides with speaker notes, an invitation letter and agenda templates. Delivery arrangements must be specified separately; the materials list does not imply that speaker invitations or on-site delivery are included.
