Full manuscript editing

We read the full manuscript from title to references, standardise medical terminology, correct grammar, adjust sentence flow and strengthen logical links between paragraphs. Particular attention goes to the Introduction (background and research gap) and Discussion (coherent interpretation and mechanistic reasoning), where editors and reviewers often disagree. Editing does not change conclusions or data; all substantive changes are marked and explained using tracked changes. Both tracked and clean final versions are delivered, allowing clients to accept individual changes or restore the original text.

Methods section standardisation (standalone Methods revision)

Includes rewriting the Statistical Analysis subsection to reporting guidelines, item-by-item STROBE or CONSORT checks, and adding software versions and key parameters.

Methods section standardisation (standalone Methods revision)

Methods section standardisation can be commissioned separately at a lower cost than full manuscript editing, with a turnaround of 2–3 business days. It includes rewriting the Statistical Analysis subsection to reporting guidelines, item-by-item STROBE or CONSORT checks, and adding software versions and key parameters. Clients whose manuscripts have been edited elsewhere but who remain concerned about methodological precision can commission this service alone.

Cover letter drafting

The cover letter is the first step in an editor's decision to send a manuscript for external review, and its quality affects initial screening. We draft it from the editor's perspective: 1 sentence on the research question, 2–3 on the main findings, 1–2 on clinical relevance and 1–2 on fit with the target journal.

Cover letter format requirements vary by journal; we adapt the letter to the target journal's author instructions.

Point-by-point responses to reviewers

For major or minor revision decision letters, we provide a structured point-by-point response letter. We first interpret each comment's underlying concern about statistical methods, writing or scientific hypotheses, then develop a specific revision strategy and draft the response, including manuscript locations, change descriptions and appropriate academic wording. Responses need to justify study design and statistical strategy methodologically and demonstrate the authors' rigour; merely repeating comments and stating “revised” is insufficient. Up to 3 revisions within scope are included, only in Full-service management and Multicentre / RCT packages.

Editorial notes

A document explains key changes, including structural rewriting, terminology substitutions, Discussion logic and missing information, with the rationale for each recommendation. Content recommended for inclusion but unsupported by the manuscript, such as a missing key statistical description, is marked “author input required”.

Suggested Methods and Results text

Includes suggested revisions to Methods and Results, precise figure captions, Limitations self-review and Discussion aligned with the target journal's style. Authorship is judged against the four ICMJE criteria: where our experts meet them, they are listed as authors under our company's real affiliation; any other contribution is stated in the acknowledgements.

Resubmission and revision stages

Editing for a different journal

When submitting to another journal after rejection, the cover letter must be rewritten for the new journal's readership and positioning. Abstract tone and keywords may also need adjustment, for example from NEJM style to a specialist journal's style. Previous editing suggestions need review because journal preferences may differ in Methods detail, statistical table formats and abbreviation rules.

Rapid support for minor revisions

Minor revisions usually have short deadlines (within 2–4 weeks), requiring a timely response. A streamlined service confirms each change, usually a small addition or clarification, and updates the response letter for clear point-by-point replies. This is usually completed within 1–2 business days to avoid delaying resubmission.
