Clinical research methodology collaboration

The company was founded in response to two common situations: real clinical data left unused because clinicians lack methodological support; and design flaws discovered only after rejection, when they can no longer be remedied.

We work as clinicians' methodology partners, without operating as a paper mill. Before the first participant is enrolled, we define analytical approaches, endpoints and confounding adjustment strategies. Before submission, we check methodological issues commonly raised by reviewers. Our working standards are aligned with reporting guidelines including Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE), Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA).

Team and roles

Team size and location
14 professionals, all foreign nationals working overseas; all academic and content work is performed remotely.
Academic roles
5 team members currently hold a total of 17 journal editorial roles; a further 3 serve as reviewers for international journals.
Areas of focus
Editorial roles are concentrated in spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, nephrology and cardiovascular medicine.
Role allocation
Each project has six roles; quality control and compliance reviewers do not write the item they review.

Editorial and reviewer roles are compiled from original CVs supplied by members; see Verification and collaboration for the verification process.

Responsibilities across six roles

Project role allocation
RoleResponsibilities
Account manager (AM)A single, consistent client contact throughout the engagement; any necessary change is notified in writing in advance.
Medical lead (ML)Oversees methodological and medical accuracy; one of the independent signatories before delivery.
Compliance reviewer (CO)Checks material classification, product claims, citations and disclosures item by item; an independent signatory.
Quality control (QC)Does not write the item reviewed and can withhold release.
Writing · editing · design (EX)Assigned by deliverable type, responsible for evidence verification and production.
Project manager (PM)Scheduling, delivery, feedback logs and version control.

On-site work in mainland China is undertaken by a local provider designated by the client or proposed by us. We coordinate, review plans and oversee content and compliance, acting as the external point of contact responsible for execution outcomes.

Editorial role counts and verification limits

The list is compiled item by item from original CVs supplied by members (original CVs collected for 12 members). We have not independently verified these roles with journal editorial offices; 12 of the 17 roles are held by 2 members. Members can provide appointment evidence, or clients can verify directly with the relevant journals. The 17 roles are concentrated in spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, nephrology and cardiovascular medicine. We make no claim of current editorial roles at journals outside these fields.

Delivery checks

  1. 01

    Self-check

The writer, statistician or editor checks their own work; they cannot authorise release.

  2. 02

    Independent quality control

A quality controller who did not write the item reviews it and may withhold release.

  3. 03

    Medical and compliance sign-off

The medical lead and compliance reviewer sign independently and cannot sign for each other. Either can veto release.

Five delivery checks

QC-1 Facts and sources
Claims cite a PubMed identifier (PMID), digital object identifier (DOI) or section number, plus the date checked
QC-2 Numerical reconciliation
Totals are checked programmatically with calculation records retained, rather than by visual inspection
QC-3 Compliance
Check each compliance item; release is withheld while any failed item remains unresolved
QC-4 Language and formatting
Terminology consistency, layout, readability and reference formatting
QC-5 Delivery completeness
Measure pages, items and Chinese characters individually; record the counting basis in the delivery checklist

Delivery is prohibited if any critical defect or unresolved major defect remains. If a problem is found after delivery, immediately stop use and distribution, notify the client in writing, and provide a factual account and correction plan.

Research ethics and service boundaries

Compliance boundaries

Our involvement in a paper is disclosed truthfully: where our staff meet the authorship criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), they are listed as authors under our company's real affiliation; any other contribution is stated in the acknowledgements. Authorship follows the ICMJE criteria: we do not conceal our involvement, do not sell authorship and do not list anyone who did not contribute. We do not ghostwrite, and we do not submit manuscripts without the authors' authorisation. Every deliverable retains decision records to support methodological review by journals and institutions.

Contractual protections

Research information is transferred over HTTPS and stored in a compliant mainland China cloud environment, with access controls limiting visibility. Intermediate data are deleted after the project within the contractual timeframe; data are not disclosed or resold to third parties. See the privacy policy →

Complete evidence trail

Alongside results and figures, deliverables include analysis code (R / SPSS / Stata / SAS) and key decision records, forming a complete evidence trail. Using the same software versions and dependencies, a third-party statistician can rerun the scripts with the data dictionary and random seed to reproduce the results.

Two ways of working together, chosen when the contract is signed

Model 1 · Statistical co-authorship

Manuscript drafting
Our statistical experts analyse the data and prepare the first draft; researchers review, revise and give final approval
Submission and revision
Researchers submit the manuscript and approve each revised version
Disclosure
Authorship under our company's real affiliation; truthful contribution and conflict of interest statements
Eligibility
Available for some projects, assessed before signing; not applicable to degree theses

Model 2 · Guided self-writing

Manuscript drafting
Researchers write the full manuscript; we provide statistical analysis and written comments
Submission and revision
Researchers submit and respond to reviewers; we provide guidance on revision approaches
Disclosure
No authorship; contribution stated in the acknowledgements
Eligibility
All projects

Resident physicians in standardised training and graduate students who choose statistical co-authorship need written consent from their supervisor and their institution. Please check in advance with your institution's research administration office whether co-authorship needs to be registered internally.

Services and engagement boundaries

Service commitments (methodological quality and reproducibility)

  • Study design consulting (Population, Intervention, Comparator and Outcome (PICO) + sample size + analysis plan)
  • Statistical analysis (including code, figures and sensitivity analyses)
  • Full-manuscript language editing (Methods / Results / Discussion)
  • Reviewer responses (structured point-by-point replies)
  • Submission support (journal selection + cover letter + submission system forms)
  • Complete code and decision records (reproducible evidence trail)

Outside our scope (beyond methodological support)

  • Authorship follows the ICMJE criteria: we do not conceal our involvement, do not sell authorship and do not list anyone who did not contribute. We do not ghostwrite, and we do not submit manuscripts without the authors' authorisation.
  • Data falsification: we do not accept requests to alter original data
  • Promises of acceptance by a specific journal: acceptance decisions belong to the journal editorial office
  • We do not ghostwrite, and we do not submit manuscripts without the authors' authorisation. Clients must participate in decisions throughout
  • Data sharing outside the confidentiality agreement

Examples and methodological figures use Illustrative data or reproductions of public data, labelled individually; they do not represent any client project.

Verification and collaboration

Member disclosure and confidential verification

All members work overseas, and their current roles and editorial appointments are subject to institutional and journal disclosure agreements. Publicly displaying editorial roles on a third-party website may affect their work at journals where they review. This page discloses only team size, location, role allocation and veto arrangements. After a confidentiality agreement is signed, members whose original CVs have been collected can be verified through a client-specified process.

Verifying 5 members and 17 editorial roles

The list is compiled item by item from original CVs supplied by members (original CVs collected for 12 members). We have not independently verified these roles with journal editorial offices; 12 of the 17 roles are held by 2 members. Members can provide appointment evidence, or clients can verify directly with the relevant journals. The 17 roles are concentrated in spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, nephrology and cardiovascular medicine. We make no claim of current editorial roles at journals outside these fields.

Arrangements for on-site work in mainland China

Academic and content work (design, statistics, writing, editing, searching and quality control) is entirely remote and unrestricted by location. We have no in-house mainland China team for on-site execution, visits or placements; a local provider designated by the client or proposed by us undertakes this work. We coordinate, review plans and oversee compliance, acting as the external contact responsible for outcomes. We do not state that we can attend on site.

Project delivery and third-party boundaries

Our members perform methodological and content work, with independent review before delivery by a quality controller who did not write the item. Mainland China on-site execution described above is an exception, and the provider is named in the contract.
